Mobile General Notary Services

Book CA Notary provides mobile general notary appointments for personal and business documents when a California notarial act is requested. To arrange an appointment, share your location, document type, number of signers and preferred time. Confirm with the document provider or receiving organization whether an acknowledgment, jurat or other act is required. Each signer must meet the applicable identity and personal-appearance requirements. The notary completes the requested act when its legal requirements are satisfied; we do not prepare documents or provide legal advice.

Documents Commonly Presented for Notarization

Common examples include:

• Affidavits and sworn statements
• Powers of attorney and travel consent documents
• Business and financial documents
• Trust and estate documents
• Real estate documents and authorizations

This list is illustrative. A document’s type alone does not establish that it is eligible or ready for notarization. Follow the document instructions or ask the receiving organization which notarial act is required.

Not Sure Which Service Page Fits Your Document?

That's okay. Tell us what document you have and where you're located so we can discuss the appropriate notary appointment.

Acknowledgments

An acknowledgment is a common California notarial act.

The signer personally appears before the notary, establishes identity using satisfactory evidence permitted by California law and acknowledges executing the document.

The document may generally have been signed before the appointment, provided the signer personally appears and acknowledges the signature as required.

Jurats

A jurat is used when the signer must swear or affirm that the contents of a document are true.

For a California jurat, the signer personally appears before the notary, signs the document in the notary's presence and takes an oath or affirmation.

The notary then completes the jurat certificate when all requirements have been satisfied.

What to Have Ready

Have the complete document, all associated pages, satisfactory evidence of identity permitted by California law, and every signer who must personally appear. Bring any instructions from the document provider or receiving organization.

Do not sign before the appointment if a jurat is required; the signer must sign in the notary’s presence. For an acknowledgment, the signer may generally have signed earlier but must personally appear and acknowledge executing the document.

What a California Notary Does

The notary verifies signer identity and performs the requested notarial act according to California law.

The notary does not verify the truthfulness, accuracy or validity of the underlying document.

Book CA Notary does not provide legal advice, prepare legal documents or choose a notarial act for the customer.

General Notary FAQs

What documents can you notarize?

Many personal and business documents may be notarized when a California notarial act is requested and the applicable legal requirements can be satisfied.

Can you come to my home?

Yes. Book CA Notary provides mobile appointments throughout our service area.

What identification do I need?

The signer must establish identity using satisfactory evidence permitted by California law for the applicable notarial act.

Should I sign my document before the appointment?

That depends on the notarial act. A jurat requires the signer to sign in the notary's presence. For an acknowledgment, the document may generally have been signed previously, but the signer must personally appear and acknowledge execution.

Can you tell me which notarization I need?

A notary cannot choose the notarial act for a customer. If the document does not specify what is required, contact the document provider, receiving organization or an appropriate legal professional.

Can notarization be done over Zoom or FaceTime?

California currently requires physical personal appearance for traditional acknowledgments and jurats performed by a California notary. An ordinary video call does not satisfy that requirement.
