Mobile Notary in Sacramento & Placer Counties
Need a notary to come to you? Book CA Notary provides mobile notarization at homes, offices, hospitals, care facilities, and other agreed-upon locations throughout Sacramento and Placer Counties, with additional service available in surrounding areas.
Same-day and evening appointments may be available by request.
A notary that comes to you
Instead of traveling to a notary office, a mobile notary meets you at an agreed-upon location.
Book CA Notary works with individuals, families, professionals, and businesses who need documents notarized at a home, workplace, hospital, care facility, or another convenient meeting place.
Mary meets with the signer in person, establishes identity as required by California law, and performs the requested notarial act when the legal requirements can be satisfied. A notary does not determine which legal document a customer needs or provide legal advice.
Documents commonly brought to mobile notary appointments
Mobile appointments can accommodate many personal, business, estate, and real-estate documents presented by the signer.
Common examples include:
- Powers of attorney
- Affidavits and sworn statements
- Trust and estate documents
- Deeds and real-estate documents
- Business documents
- Travel consent forms
- Healthcare-related documents
- Agreements and other documents requiring an acknowledgment or jurat
Not every document requires notarization, and the notary does not determine which document or notarial act you need. If you are unsure, confirm the requirements with the person or organization receiving the document.
Have a power of attorney or estate document?
Tell Mary what documents you have, where the signer is located, and when you would like to meet. If another professional prepared the documents, bring the completed paperwork and any instructions they provided.
Where can a mobile notary meet you?
A mobile appointment can take place at your home, office, workplace, hospital, assisted-living community, skilled-nursing facility, rehabilitation facility, or another mutually agreed-upon location.
For information about appointments at a hospital or care facility, provide the facility name, room or unit when available, parking or access instructions, and information about any visitor requirements when requesting the appointment.
The signer must be able to communicate directly with the notary and participate in the notarization. If there are questions about the signer or circumstances, discuss them with Mary before scheduling. For correctional-facility appointments, see Jail & Detention Notary; facility policies and access requirements may apply.
How a mobile notary appointment works
- Request an appointment. Tell Mary your location, preferred date and time, document type, number of signers, and approximately how many signatures may require notarization.
- Receive your quote and scheduling options. Travel, timing, location, and the requested services can affect the total cost. A submitted request is not a confirmed appointment until the details are accepted.
- Prepare for the appointment. Have the documents and acceptable identification available. Do not leave important questions about the document until the appointment—contact the document's issuing or receiving party beforehand.
- Meet with Mary. Mary will establish identity as required, complete the requested notarial procedure when its requirements can be satisfied, and complete the applicable notarial certificate.
- Take your completed documents. Unless another service has specifically been arranged, you remain responsible for delivering or submitting the documents to the appropriate recipient.
What to have ready
Your documents: Have the documents available and sufficiently complete for the notarization. Do not sign portions that must be signed in the notary's presence.
Identification: Have satisfactory evidence of identity available for each person requiring notarization. If your identification is expired, missing, damaged, or reflects a different name, discuss the situation with Mary before the appointment so the available identification options can be evaluated under California law.
All required signers: Confirm who needs to participate before scheduling.
Witnesses: If your document requires witnesses, determine the requirements beforehand and tell Mary when requesting the appointment.
Questions about the document: Ask the document preparer, receiving agency, attorney, lender, escrow officer, or other appropriate professional about legal or document-specific questions before the appointment.
Need a full real-estate loan package signed?
A general mobile-notary appointment and a loan-signing appointment are not necessarily the same service. Purchase, refinance, seller, HELOC, and other lender or escrow packages may require a loan signing agent and additional document-handling instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is a mobile notary?
A mobile notary is a commissioned notary public who travels to an agreed-upon location to perform permitted notarial acts. Instead of visiting a storefront or office, the signer can arrange an appointment at a home, workplace, hospital, care facility, or another suitable location.
- Do you offer same-day mobile notary appointments?
Same-day appointments may be available depending on Mary's schedule, your location, travel time, and the type of appointment. See Same-Day & After-Hours Notary for scheduling information. Call, text, or submit an appointment request to check availability.
- Can you meet someone at a hospital or care facility?
Yes. Mobile appointments may be arranged at hospitals, assisted-living communities, skilled-nursing facilities, rehabilitation facilities, and other care settings. Provide facility and access information when requesting the appointment.
- What identification should I have ready?
Have satisfactory evidence of identity available for each person requiring notarization. If identification is expired, missing, damaged, or reflects a different name, discuss the situation with Mary before the appointment so the available options can be evaluated under California law.
- Should I sign my document before the notary arrives?
That depends on the notarial act. Some signatures must occur in the notary's presence. If you are uncertain, leave the signature area unsigned until you meet with the notary.
- Can a mobile notary tell me which document I need?
No. A California notary cannot select legal documents for you or provide legal advice. Contact the receiving agency, document preparer, attorney, or other appropriate professional if you need help determining which document to use.
- Is a mobile notary the same as a loan signing agent?
Not exactly. "Mobile notary" describes a notary traveling to the signer. A loan signing agent focuses on facilitating loan and real-estate document packages. A commissioned notary may provide both services, but a full loan package should be requested as a loan-signing appointment.
- Can you notarize my document over FaceTime, Zoom, or another video call?
No. A California notary public currently requires the signer to personally appear before the notary for notarial acts such as acknowledgments and jurats. A video call does not satisfy California's personal-appearance requirement.
- How much does a mobile notary appointment cost?
The total depends on the notarial acts requested as well as travel, location, timing, waiting time, facility access, and other applicable services. Book CA Notary provides a personalized quote before confirming the appointment.
- How do I request a mobile notary?
Submit the Request Appointment form and provide your location, preferred date and time, document type, number of signers, and approximate number of notarizations. You can also call or text Book CA Notary to discuss the appointment.
